INTRODUCTION

The Heating/Cooling screen is used to identify all existing heating and cooling systems in the unit and enter new measures to be installed for those systems.

  • Data entered on the Energy Consumption screen has a direct relationship to heating and cooling system data entered here. All utility providers used for heating or cooling must have energy consumption records, and the amount of usage for heating and cooling must be specified before you can add heating and/or cooling records.   Available options on some selection lists are based on energy consumption data.

The Heating/Cooling screen is accessed by opening the client’s record from the Job List screen, then selecting Heating/Cooling from the WEATHERIZATION menu.

  1. To create a new record, click Add.
  2. To view (read-only) an existing record, click View at the beginning of the row.
  3. To edit an existing record, click Edit at the beginning of the row.
  4. To delete a record, click Delete at the beginning of the row.

See the tasks below for directions on entering Heating/Cooling information.

ADD A HEATING SYSTEM

From the WEATHERIZATION menu select Heating/Cooling and click Add

  1. Select Heating from the Heating/Cooling drop-down list (available options are based on data entered on the Energy Consumption screen).
  2. Select the Utility or Fuel Provider from the drop-down list (available options are based on data entered on the Energy Consumption screen).
  3. Select the System Type from the drop-down list.
  4. Select the Type from the drop-down list (available options may vary based on data that is selected in the fields above). The Efficiency field will be automatically populated based on your selection.
  • Condensing (hot flue gasses are cooled and water vapor condenses) – a high efficiency of 90%
  • Electronic Ignition - a mid-high efficiency of 80%
  • Other (low-efficiency furnaces) – a low efficiency of 70%
  1. The percent of Efficiency of the system is automatically populated based on the Type selected above. This value can be changed based on actual test results.
  2. If there are multiple heating systems in the unit enter the Usage Ratio of this system. For example, if there are two heating systems, and this system is used to heat 80% of the unit, enter 80.  When you add the second system, enter 20 in this field.  If this is the only system used for heating keep the default of 100%.
  3. Enter the Heat Rise (the measured temperature rise) of the system (optional).
  4. In the Equipment Output section, enter the Heating BTUs per hour (optional).
  5. Click Save.

ADD A COOLING SYSTEM

From the WEATHERIZATION menu select Heating/Cooling and click Add

  1. Select Cooling from the Heating/Cooling drop-down list (available options are based on data entered on the Energy Consumption screen).
  2. Select the Utility or Fuel Provider from the drop-down list (available options are based on data entered on the Energy Consumption screen).
  3. Select the System Type from the drop-down list.
  4. Select the Type from the drop-down list (available options are based on data that is selected in the fields above).
  5. If the System Type is Central Air AC, enter the SEER. If this is a Room AC, enter the EER.
  6. If there are multiple cooling systems in the unit enter the Usage Ratio of this system. For example, if there are two cooling systems, and this system is used to cool 80% of the unit, enter 80.  When you add the second system, enter 20 in this field.  If this is the only system used for cooling keep the default of 100%.
  7. Enter the age of the system in the System Age (years) field.
  8. If the System Type is Central Air AC enter the Cooling BTUs per hour in the Equipment Output section (optional).
  9. If the System Type is Room AC enter the Room Square Footage.
  10. Click Save.

ADD A HEAT PUMP

From the WEATHERIZATION menu select Heating/Cooling and click Add

  1. Select Heating from the Heating/Cooling drop-down list (available options are based on data entered on the Energy Consumption screen).
  2. Select the Utility or Fuel Provider from the drop-down list (available options are based on data entered on the Energy Consumption screen).
  3. Select Heat Pump as the System Type from the drop-down list.
  4. Select the Type from the drop-down list (available options are based on data that is selected in the fields above).
  5. If there are multiple heating systems in the unit enter the Usage Ratio of the heat pump. For example, if there are two heating systems, and the heat pump is used to heat 80% of the unit, enter 80.  When you add the second system, enter 20 in this field.  If this is the only system used for heating keep the default of 100%.
  6. Enter the Heat Rise (the measured temperature rise) of the system (optional).
  7. Enter the age of the heat pump in the System Age (years) field.
  8. In the Equipment Output section, enter the Heating BTUs per hour (optional).
  • For heat pumps, only enter one system. The system automatically creates a “virtual” cooling system when a heat pump is entered.
  1. In the Equipment Output section enter the Heating and Cooling BTUs per hour (optional).
  2. In the Heat Pump section enter the HSPF and SEER.
  3. Click Save.
